In may 2019, I held a six days long workshop at the Academy of Fine Arts of Foggia, named «3D Space: Language & Narrative».
The workshop was part of the Multimedia course held by professor & artist Damiano Colacito, and it was aimed at students of New Media as an introduction to Unity 3D.
As the students had little to no familiarity with 3D and programming softwares, my goal was to provide them with a series of simple tools to create narrative situations, while showing them how it was possible to build 3D spaces only with 2D elements (pictures, drawings, any kind of image).
As my approach with videogames is driven towards narrative, lyrical and experimental experiences, I showed them some examples from the world of freeware/amateur videogames.
This, together with the lo-fi visual approach I chose, was to reinforce the idea that videogames can be done with whatever tools we have at our disposal.
